Organizer:

The NYC Noam Chomsky + Anarcho-Syndicalism Meetup Group

THIS MEETUP CONSISTS OF TWO INTERDEPENDENT GROUPS:

There is the MAIN DISCUSSION GROUP which meets about every two weeks and reads books and articles by Chomsky and other writers related to current world affairs, Socialism, Anarchism, and other topics of political and historical interest in preparation for discussion of all sorts of issues. People of all political persuasions are welcome, including Chomsky critics. No idea will be supressed here.

A second group, THE PROGRESSIVE PHILOSOPHY READING GROUP, meets separately every two weeks with the goal of carefully working through classic texts in philosophy to better understand major political movements like Socialism, Communism, and Anarchism (especially Anarcho-Syndicalism - the political philosophy to which Chomsky subscribes) by writers like Marx, Chomsky, Bakunin, Rocker, and others. We'll also join the reading group of the NY Metro Alliance of Anarchists (NYMAA) which tackles books on the history and philosophy of Anarchism.

All are welcome to participate in one or both groups.

Learn more about Chomsky and access links to hundreds of his writings, interviews, and speeches here: www.chomsky.info.
